Quality Manager

Location: Nottingham
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday–Friday

We are recruiting for a hands-on Quality Manager based in Nottingham

This is a predominantly shop-floor-based role, with approximately 70% of your time focused on hands-on inspection and dimensional measurement, with the remaining 30% covering wider quality management, systems and continuous improvement.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong engineering or machining background who have progressed into quality and enjoy remaining technically involved in the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out hands-on inspection of precision-engineered components using appropriate measuring equipment.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T requirements.

  • Oversee first-off, in-process and final inspection.

  • Investigate defects, non-conformances and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective actions.

  • Maintain and improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Work closely with Production and Engineering to reduce scrap, rework and recurring quality issues.

  • Manage customer and supplier quality concerns.

  • Lead, coach and develop the quality and inspection team.

  • Drive continuous improvement and promote quality ownership across the shop floor.

About You

  • Previous experience in Quality Management or a senior quality/inspection role within precision engineering or manufacturing.

  • Strong hands-on dimensional inspection and measurement skills.

  • Confident using precision measuring equipment and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances.

  • Good understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with ISO 9001, audits, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to work alongside machinists and production teams.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills.

A time-served Engineer, CNC Machinist or similar who has progressed into quality would be particularly well suited. Experience in aerospace, defence or other high-precision manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
